The days, long nights and musings of two new parents to Tanner Kai who have no clue what they're doing. But know it will be worth it.

Jesus is better than a f#*k any day
I used to swear. A lot. I've been really good lately now that Tanner is a parrot, repeating every word verbatim. Though, I didn't realize that I've been using "Oh jesus" instead of "f#*k." Now Tanner is saying it everywhere - after almost stepping on dog poop on the side walk. "oh jesus." After dropping something on the floor. "oh jesus." After Jason let out a big fart. "oh jesus."

Rain Man
I'm not quite sure if this is normal for 2 year olds, given that their incredible brains still have lots of room to absorb everything. Tanner's memory is amazing. Unreal. Shocking. Really.
The other day, he found two little Thomas the Train rings that were on his birthday cake back in August. He hasn't seen them since that day. When he saw them, he said "Tanner birthday cake."
Last weekend, we were looking at house that was in the same development as one that we had looked at 2 months ago. The houses were exactly the same - outside and layout wise. As soon as we went to the backyard of the house, Tanner asked, "Where's pool?" We couldn't figure it out. Then we remembered that the other house from 2 months back had a pool.
Our landlord, Pia has a little studio apartment off the garage that they live in when they're not in Italy 6 months out of the year. The door has a lock on it where you have to enter a 4-digit code. Tanner was playing with the lock while I was talking to Pia. After getting frustrated that the door wasn't opening, Pia punched in the code (without saying the numbers out loud or even intentionally showing Tanner). A minute later, Tanner closed the door and typed in the code - almost correctly. He got the 4th number incorrect. Pia looked at me and asked, "Did you see that?" I was shocked.
Better start saving for Stanford.

1 liners from a 2 year old
Tanner peed on the kitchen floor, only 1 minute after he got off the potty.
Me: No peeing on the floor. Big boys don't pee on the floor. Big boys go pee pee in the potty.
Tanner: No Mommy, big boys ride bikes.
I passed gas in the car - a SBD one. (silent but deadly).
Tanner with nose scrunched: I smell that!
Me: Tanner, we're going on an airplane.
Tanner: Do trucks go on airplanes?
Me: No, they're too big.
Tanner: Is Poppy going on airplane?
Me: No, Poppy is staying here.
Tanner: Poppy too big?
After getting his first wallet
Me: Tanner where are you going to take Mommy on our first date?
Tanner: Bus ride
After Jason passed gas
Tanner: Daddy need a diaper. Oh jesus.
Mommy, you're pretty. Like a princess. Drink more wine. It's good for you,
